I read MSP Kenneth’s Gibson’s tale about fracking in the letters page. So, I e-mailed his office with some “facts”.

I sent him the “UK government’s” fracking map of Scotland to point out, that his letter was woefully inaccurate. This map covers the whole of Ayrshire.

A local green campaigner has claimed that fracking applications for the area are in the pipeline.

IN a statement to the Largs & Millport Weekly News Mr Graham Wingate said new European rules made it more difficult to stop fracking plans.

He said: "I have learned that the Queen’s Speech in June (written by Westminster) will tell us that Halliburton, Quadrilla or whoever, can pump toxic and radioactive chemicals under your house, or land without your permission. They expect to pay compensation of about £100 per victim." Local SNP MSP Kenneth Gibson's reply is as follows: “The map covers areas that have potential for fracking. If any proposals for Ayrshire have been submitted, can you please advise me what those are?” Mr Wingate stated: "Four “facts” ... The Westminster government have frantically paid a fortune to survey, test and map the area, fracking is so inevitable, imminent and so toxic that the European government hurriedly exempted it from environmental legislation.

"Her Majesty (The Crown owns the mineral rights.) will announce in June that it is to be made legal to poison your environment without permission.

It’s remarkably easy to pee in the reservoir but much more difficult to get it back out." Mr Wingate concluded: "Does the reader see a problem emerging? Mr. Gibson doesn’t. He would appear to be waiting for the bomb to go off before he’ll accept that it’s a bomb.

" Understand, that, in the not too distant future, “fresh, unpolluted, land, air & water” will be more valuable than all the oil and gas on the planet."
