Largs and Millport Weekly News readers have offered some views on the decision by North Ayrshire Council to ban independence posters on council property.
Here are some.....
In relation to last week’s front page story ‘Ban on Indie Posters’, banning the display of any political posters on council property, including street lamps, it is very different from a blanket ban on ‘indie’ posters in the Largs area.
In Glasgow, a similar ban has been in force for years and the only noticeable impact is the city isn’t covered in cheap plastic political signs for weeks before (and after) any election.
Alan McMorran Most of the parties only take half the signs back down again. Quite right! Plus, if you’re seriously basing your vote on who has posters on lampposts then... well, good luck Alan Graham Maybe it’s because the SNP government in Holyrood keep freezing council tax and, therefore, NAC has decided it cannot afford to spend money paying people to remove posters from their property in case it cuts other vital services even further than it has already.
