In relation to the recent ‘News’ article “£80 fine for dumping litter”, You can make the fine £1000 but if no one is enforcing this then it makes no difference whatsoever. Just whose job is it to enforce, police or council or other?

Tom Imisson It’s not fines you need, it’s education, and parents educating their children! Although, I must say, that the amount of adults I see tossing junk over their shoulder is appalling, but all a fine is doing is putting revenue in the wrong pockets. It is another money making target to add to our corporately controlled ‘police’ service.

Elisa Goldfrapp It should be controlled by a separate body who pay for themselves with performance related pay, One fine a day would pay for someone to be out pounding the streets.

Marc Scott I agree with Elisa. Mind you, the dog bin, for you know what, at the Lighthouse flats in Wemyss Bay is overflowing and has been for a good few days.
