Glasgow 2014 has announced the full list of batonbearers for North Ayrshire.

A team of 125 local residents will escort the baton from town to town when it arrives in Skelmorlie on Tuesday, July 15.

The North Ayrshire leg of the Queen’s Baton Tour takes place eight days before the start of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The baton has travelled 120,000 miles around 70 nations on its global tour.

In Scotland, 4,000 batonbearers are carrying it round 400 communities in all 32 local authority areas.

Here are the North Ayrshire batonbearers: Skelmorlie: Penelope (Pen) Hof, John Gilmour, George Bateman, Harinder Dhani, Andrew Todd, Cindy Cummings, Mary Jane Rodger.

The timings of the baton coming to local area are as follows: 07.45 Skelmorlie 08.05 Largs 10.30 Millport 11.10 Largs 11.30 Kilbirnie On Monday July 14, the Queen’s baton relay starts in Inverkip at 8.40am and follows a route through Gourock and onwards to Kilmacolm. Taking part on that day is John Muir, John Muir. Ever since his son Damian was tragically stabbed to death six years ago, John has vehemently run a major anti-knife campaign, taking his message to youth groups and schools across Inverclyde and further afield.
