Largs professional Paul Robinson has scored his first win on the Tartan Tour with a five-under-par round of 65 to head the field of 36 in the Cawder Golf Club pro-am.

Robinson collected his biggest ever prize - £1,200 - for a round that contained an eagle and five birdies. He had bogeys at the second and 15th but still managed to win by a stroke from joint runners-up Craig Haugh (Cawder) and Mark Kerr (Marriott Dalmahoy).

Prizegiving Paul said: “It’s been a great couple of weeks for me for me with top 20 at the Europro Tour Event in Northumberland, top 10 finishes at Largs and Strathaven Pro-Am’s and I quailified for the British Assistants and the Northern Open”.

Paul was 13th at the British Assistants tourney out of a field of 120 and second top Scot. He would have been better but was hampered by the effects of a severe cold on day one, and shot a 4 over par 77. However, on day two, he bounced back after rest and medication with a 5 under 68 finisihing the final round with a 2 under 71 for a 54 hole total of 216.

Paul’s brother Colin, a former Largs member and Assistant Pro at Elie Golf Club, also qualified for both event.
