Largs and Millport News readers have asked why has the clock stopped at the St Columba’s Parish Church in recent weeks.
It might be a safe place for these pigeons to roost, as the picture shows, but the regular booming chimes have been missing while the church have been in contact with North Ayrshire Council, who take responsibility for the clock, in a bid to fix the problem.
Session Clerk John Lewis told the ‘News’: “NAC have responsibility, and they have contacted a specialist to go up and check the clock. The specialist is providing a report to North Ayrshire Council and then we will find out just how quickly they can fix the mechanism." * Update - John Lewis added: "Following a specialist's report, the clock mechanism needs to be replaced. We are going to speak to North Ayrshire Council again to assess the next step."
