A Largs resident has complained that a town centre street is an accident hazard.

In a statement to the Largs & MIllport Weekly News, Janet Ross expressed concern about Bath Street, adjacent to the pier.

Mrs Ross said: ".Not only do cars turn right and drive up the wrong side of the road but cars turning left often do U turns at the entrance to Bath Street from the Main Street and even three point turns.

"Cars are often parked on the double yellow lines almost to the yellow box so cars turning left have go over to the wrong side of the road in front of oncoming traffic. Another well known hazard in Largs are the yellow boxes - usually you do not enter these unless the exit is clear but, no, not in Largs; they stop in the middle of them when traffic lights are at red so no one can exit either from Bath Street or from the pier. What happened to good common sense and courteous driving?"

Mrs Ross added: " How there are not more accidents in Bath Street beats me but may be the powers that be are waiting for one or more to happen before anything is done about it. I never used to like the police or traffic wardens patrolling and booking cars but now I would like to see them back to keep some sensible law and order with the motorists who some - and I do mean some - think they rule the road and can do want they want to the detriment to other drivers and pedestrians."
