MP Katy Clark is calling on locals to make sure they are registered to vote on the 18th September.

Voters will be able to state their preference to the question “Should Scotland be an independent country?” Everyone 16 or older on the 18th of September and who is a British, Irish or EU citizen living in Scotland will be able to vote if registered. Alarmingly, it is thought 25% of local 16 to 25 year olds are not registered to take part on 18th September.

Ms Clark is urging anyone who has moved recently or never got a polling card for the May European elections - including those 16 and 17 - to make sure they are registered to vote before the deadline of 2nd September. To check if you are registered contact AVJB at Ayr on 01292 612221 or go online at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.

Katy Clark commented: “I want to make sure as many people get a chance to have their say on such an important topic and no one misses out. If you’ve moved recently or have never registered make sure you get your say by confirming your registered now.”
