Police are appealing for information following a high value robbery from a house in Largs on Sunday 24 August.

Around 11pm on Sunday night, two masked men forced their way into the home of a 49 year old man in Glen Avenue, Largs, threatened him and his daughter (17) with what was believed to be a firearm before making off with a five figure sum of money and personal items.

The firearm was not discharged and no one was injured.

The men are described as both being approximately 5 ft 10 in height and of slim build, each wearing a balaclava and dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant John Deans, Saltcoats CID, said today: “Thankfully no one was injured but it was a terrifying attack on the man and his family, however, we do believe that it was very much a targeted attack as the men involved knew what they were looking for.

“It is possible the men made off in a waiting car, we are checking CCTV and doing door to door in the area to establish this, however, I would appeal to anyone who was in the area, who may have seen something suspicious; maybe the men or the car; prior to or after the robbery – to contact police.” Anyone with information can contact Saltcoats CID via the non emergency number 101 or in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
