The vessel with its anchor down was drifting towards dangerous rocks.
Clyde Coastguard alerted the lifeboat. and when it arrived on scene, other vessels had already come to the rescue. However, the lifeboat soon took the situation under control, attached a tow line and towed the vessel to Fairlie where she and her crew were safely berthed.
On Wednesday 17 September, the volunteer crew in action once again when a report of an inflatable tender with four persons on board were having great difficulty endeavouring to row ashore to Saltcoats against an offshore east wind. Just as the lifeboat arrived on scene the weary inflatable crew had managed to land safely ashore by their own endeavour.
Thereafter, the lifeboat returned to station.
