An ecumenical service will take place in Largs on Tuesday 25 November to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

The ‘call for change’ service is taking place at 10am at St Columba’s Epsicopal Church, Aubery Crescent, Largs.

A total of 127 women have died this year in the UK from their own partners.

And the latest and final event to develop North Ayrshire Council’s newest Violence Against Women strategy takes place on Thursday 27 November at Ardeer Neighbourhood Centre, Stevenston.

Previous meetings have been hailed a success as North Ayrshire’s Violence Against Women Partnership gauges opinion.

This final event will examine the strategy in its draft form, and provide feedback to inform its completion.

The Partnership is keen for the local community to have their say on this important subject.

Councillor Ruth Maguire, who chairs the group, said: “The previous two meetings have been excellent and helped us shape our strategy as we tackle this really important issue.

“The next event will take things a step further and let us illustrate what we’ve been working on and give people a chance to have a final say.

“It is a real honour to be involved in this project and I’m sure the strategy, when completed, will reflect the views of the people that have been involved in the discussions.” If anyone would like to book a place on the council event, please contact Community Safety Services on 01294 314692. The event runs from 9.30 am until 2pm.
