There wasn’t much seasonal cheer in Stakehill in Largs after a disturbing incident was in danger of getting out of control.

Police have put out a warning to teenagers after stones and eggs were thrown at a pensioner’s door in the neighbourhood.

At 6.50pm on Sunday 14 December, an elderly gentleman was disturbed as a number of items were thrown at his property, causing some damage.

Inspector Michael Jones condemned the behaviour of the youngsters, and said their actions were in danger of causing someone a serious injury. Police are appealing for witnesses. If you can help, contact ‘101’.

Drugs charge.... A 39 year old man was stopped and searched by police in Largs Main Street on Thursday 11 December.

He was found to have one and a half grammes of cocaine on his possession, and has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the offence.

Two teenagers have been reported to the Fiscal in connection with disorder in Seamore Street, Largs, at 11.35pm on Saturday 13 December.

They have been charged with being abusive, shouting and swearing, and challenging people to a fight.

There was a break-in to a house in Barr Crescent, Largs, between 6.40pm on Thursday 11 December, and 8.30am on Friday 12 December.

A number of tools were stolen including a Stigma tile cutter, telescopic ladder, step ladder, tubs of paint, and various other materials. The house had been undergoing a renovation.

* There was high activity involving emergency services in Largs Main Street last Friday at 10.50am as police and an ambulance crew rushed on to a bus after reports that a man had taken ill on board. Paramedics were on the scene, and sadly, the elderly man passed away.
