A group of students at Largs Academy have set up an Amnesty International group with help from their modern studies department.

World Human Rights Day was on Wednesday 10 December to raise awareness of the importance of Human Rights.

Thenew group, which was recently established by History and Modern Studies teacher Mr McCoy, asked S1 pupils to pledge their support by giving something up! By sacrificing their morning interval, a group of pupils symbolised those who are unfairly imprisoned all over the world.

Others chose to leave an item of property at home to show support for those less fortunate than themselves who have perhaps had their property taken away from them. Many dedicated S5 and S6 pupils worked alongside Mr McCoy, Mrs Tait and the Guidance team to prepare a fun and interesting lesson to engage S1 pupils in this important topic.
