Largs Police have reminded locals to be vigilant after a spate of car thefts throughout the district.
Thieves have been targeting car keys left lying within easy reach when breaking into properties, before making off with the vehicles.
Several incidents have now occurred in North Ayrshire, including Largs and West Kilbride, and police have highlighted it as a growing problem.
Inspector Michael Oates reminded householders to keep their keys within a safe place, and away from the prying eyes of thieves.
He said: “Residents should be aware of the issue, and make sure their car keys are not lying around a kitchen table. The cars have been driven away, and so far, have not been found, so obviously they are going somewhere, but the public should be reminded to put their car keys in a safe place at all times.”
