The Largs Rotary movement will be 110 years in existence this month, and is part of an international movement which has a global reach.
Despite monumental efforts of clubs worldwide, the challenge to eradicate polio remains on-going with access denied to certain regions, for immunisation teams to operate, e.g Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Press officer for Largs Rotary, Carl Williamson said: “Recently Bill Gates, a generous benefactor to the cause, announced recently that India was polio free. Rotary promised the children of the world that we would eradicate polio and we must not let them down.” Weekly talks are also provided at Largs Rotary, and Dalgarven Mill Museum of Country Life and Costume was the subject of the talk by owner Bill Ferguson, a third generation of millers/ Bill and his family have restored what was almost a ruin into this most interesting visitor attraction with a vast collection of dress and textiles, to complement the array of old farm implements is well worth a visit.
The tearoom an added attraction for this unique museum, situated on the banks of the River Garnock, near Kilwinning.
