Demonstrations on silk painting, a beautiful form of traditional art, are being held in Largs this week. this type of painting has been practised in Asia for centuries. the fabric allows for striking and beautiful results, and free taster sessions are taking place at the Vikingar! on thursday 18 March for all age groups.

Lesley mcCormack previously ran a local class from 1996-2002, and is keen to resume sessions in Largs on a regular basis.

She said: i am now starting it back up at Vikingar! and i hope it will be as successful as it was then. some of the children who used to go now have kids themselves and it would be nice if they came along.

“i announced I was starting the classes back up on the Largs People facebook page and it created quite a buzz.

“I will be session at Vikingar on Thursday between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, where anyone can come along during this time and have a go to see if they like it.

“I will then be starting the classes properly the following week (26 March) 6pm to 7.30pm. it’s for adults and kids 5+, although children under 8 should be with an adult. it’s so easy to do and you will be amazed at the results.” Lesley has a display of silk paintings in Vikingar! at present, see pictures.
