Didn’t manage the marathon? Too far away? Or too ambitious—for this year at least? Well, there is a more local opportunity, not as exhausting, and you will be raising funds for the RNLI at the same time! The countdown is on to the RNLI Mayday Appeal on Monday, May 4th with the bright yellow wellies that are part of the crew equipment taking centre stage.

The Largs Fundraising Branch is continuing its preparations for a great Day. The highlights are a Sponsored Welly Toddle to the Pier for the little ones and a Sponsored Welly Walk to the Pencil— for the more energetic ones--both started off by our Editor, David Carnduff, at 11.30 am outside the Lifeboat Station. Wellies are optional! The Lifeboat will be out for everyone to see and there will be other attractions inside the Station and out—if the weather is good! There will be games, souvenir and craft stands, and bric a brac, including books, and special commemorative yellow welly pin badges.

The fundraising co-ordinator, Cathy Holgate, says “We hope to see the prom filled with people and bathed in sunshine! We need more people to do the Walks and to get loads of sponsorship. Support us from 11.30 on the day but if you can’t make it, please donate towards the appeal through the special website. Do come and join us, bring your friends and family along and let’s make it a really successful funday.” Sponsorship Forms are available from the Lifeboat Shop at the weekend and donations can be made to www.justgiving.com/largsfundraisers Further details about the day can be obtained from 01475 674399.
