Giving a strong voice to people who use social care is one of the topics of a special session hosted by Largs Library over the coming week.

On Thursday 30 April from 11am-1pm, “Care Opinion” will be in Largs Library to raise awareness of their website careopinion.org.uk., which aims to give a stronger voice to people who use adult social care. It is an independent website about your experiences of adult social care services, good or bad, and passes your stories to the right people to make a difference. KA Leisure group are hosting a 15 minute lifestyle Also at Largs Library, KA Leisure health checks are taking place - get a 15 minute lifestyle MOT! Staff from KA Leisure will be visiting on Thursday 30 April from 1.45pm - 3.45pm, offering free health checks to members of the public. Find out how to get into tip top condition now that spring is here!

And representatives from the council will be on hand at Largs Library to explain the proposals in the draft Flood Risk Management strategies and plans to members of the public on Thursday 30 April. There is no need to book a place, just drop in to the session in the IT suite of the library from 3-6pm.

Local painter, poet and pilot Jim Hardie is exhibiting his vast body of work at a variety of sites in North Ayrshire throughout April and May, and a small selection can be viewed in the Community Room at Largs Library during normal library opening hours. Sample his work at other libraries in North Ayrshire and the Heritage Centre in Saltcoats, and follow Jim’s “Signposts” to his larger exhibition at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine. On until 1st June.

Councillor Alex Gallagher will hold a surgery in the library on Friday 1 May from 9.30-10am, and Kenneth Gibson MSP will hold his surgery on Saturday 2nd May, 2-3 pm. There is no need to book an appointment for these surgeries, just come along to the library for these drop in sessions.

And in terms of children’s activities, there are two rhymetime sessions next week. The Saturday Songs and Stories will be on 2 May from 10.30am. It’s a free songs, rhymes and stories session for under 5s in the children’s library section. The regular Tuesday session will take place as usual on Tuesday 5 May at 10.30am in the library. All under 5s and their grown-ups welcome.

Finally, Largs Library will be open as usual on Saturday 2nd May, from 10am - 5pm, and closed for the public holiday on 4th May. The library hope you have a lovely May Day holiday.
