Members of St John’s Church hosted a cream tea fundraiser on Saturday afternoon to help the victims of the Nepal earthquake disaster.

The April quake killed more than 8,800 people, and injured more than 23,000.

Marie Millar, who is one of the co-ordinators of the church event, said: “It was the very fact that these people were one minute going on with their lives, and then in the next minute their lives are totally changed and devastated.

“For many of us, the Nepal earthquake is very much in our mind, so we decided to host an event for the victims “We thought that by showing love and compassion in a practical way, we could host this Afternoon tea event, and try and help these people who have suffered so much.” The total amount raised was £1685, and all the proceeds will go to the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Marie Millar has thanked everyone who attended the event.
