Letter writer and roads campaigner Archie Burleigh gives his view on the proposed 20mph limit for Largs Main Street...
I note we are to have new speed improvements for the section of the A78 from the bottom of Nelson Street up to the junction of Charles Street. The new speed will be 20 miles per hour. This is indeed a welcome initiative by Transport Scotland (AKA Scottish Government) and hopefully the current average speed times for this section of 10 miles per hour will vastly improve.
It is also hoped that future initiatives will include the fixing of the potholes and treacherous walking surface on the Main Street from M & Co. down to the pier together with a no right turn central island barrier at the seafront car park entrance.
