The new ‘Please Don’t Feed the Seagulls’ campaign has got off to a flyer, with Largs Commmunity Council backing the project.

Mum Jane Wilson contacted the ‘News’ after a friend’s son received facial injuries after being attacked while eating an ice cream on Largs Prom, and has urged the community and businesses to rally round to support the initiative.

Jane said: “I spoke to the Community Council environment sub-committee and they were very positive about the project, and they are able to offer micro-grants for community benefits.

“I am looking at using stencils to spray paint pavement areas with ‘Don’t Feed the Seagull’ messages on the prom itself, and in order to obtain new signage.” Jane is hoping local businesses also join the initiative, with posters and improved signage coming in to use to deter people from feeding the gulls in Largs.
