Largs Academy had a surprise visitor before the end of term - Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes, with the Scottish Cup!
On Wednesday 3rd June, Jim Fleeting from the Scottish Football Association and John ‘Yogi’ Hughes - manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle brought the Scottish Cup to Largs Academy. Inverness had recently won the Scottish Cup in the final at Hampden against Falkirk.
Jim Fleeting and John Hughes were in the Largs area as they were at the Inverclyde Sports Centre tutoring candidates on SFA Coaching Courses and they took the opportunity to bring the trophy into school and show it off to the Largs Academy pupils.
Jim and ‘Yogi’ gave details of their backgrounds and held a question and answer session with around 400 pupils. Jim Fleeting acted as chairman and John Hughes answered all questions with honesty and enthusiasm, leaving all who listened to him impressed and many motivated to work harder at their game.
At the end of the question and answer session both Jim and Yogi signed autographs and posed for pictures with the cup for pupils and staff. This was a fantastic afternoon.
