The Largs Rotary is always trying to introduce new events into their community programme.

At present, they are planning to launch a Dragon Boat Race, which would probably be a first for Largs.

This would seem to be a popular way to encourage teams of rowers to complete over a pre-determined course, somewhere along the prom area - a couple of club members visited such a race at Irvine recently, and reported back to the members.

Dragon Boat Racing is one of Britain’s fastest growing corporate activities - it requires no previous experience and caters for all abilities and is deemed a fun ‘come and try it’ activity’, a popular team building exercise and superb motivational activity.

Over £12million has been raised for charity by racing dragon boats, report Gable Events .

A lot of work is involved in such a venture, and may involve other organisations coming on board, to make it viable,so to speak, More discussions will continue before any further announcements can made at this stage.

One event that is going ahead, is another big dinner, at the beginning of October. in the Masonic Hall, with all money raised going to the Pancreatic Cancer Charity. Tickets are already going on sale. Ask a member of Largs Rotary for more details,
