A top tv author is heading to Largs to give a talk on her crime novels.

Ann Cleeves, the writer behind ITV’s Vera and BBC One’s Shetland, is coming to Lounge restaurant in Main Street, Largs on Friday 11 September Ann will be reading from, and talking about, The Moth Catcher, the seventh book in the Vera Stanhope series.

This case was different from anything Vera had ever worked before. Two bodies, connected but not lying together. And nothing made her feel as alive as murder.

Ann has written more than twenty-five novels. In 2006 she was awarded the Duncan Lawrie Dagger (CWA Gold Dagger) for Best Crime Novel, for Raven Black, the first book in her Shetland series, and she has recently been inducted into the CWA Crime Thriller Awards Hall of Fame.

Other talks include ‘Francis Gay - Unmasked’ - A part of Scottish culture as Oor Wullie and The Broons. Incredibly, he has kept The Sunday Post supplied with uplifting stories every week for the past 75 years and has been read faithfully around the world (really!) by many generations. But who exactly is he? All will be revealed in a talk given by David McLaughlan on Saturday 12 September at Lounge at 2pm.

Later that evening at Lounge, ‘Galbraith and Black - Partners in Crime’ - best-selling Edinburgh crime writers Gillian Galbraith and Tony Black have written more than twenty books, but, before they turned to writing full time, Galbraith was an Advocate at the Scottish Bar whilst Black was an award-winning journalist.

Tickets and a full line-up of events are available www.tidelinesbookfest.com/ Events are held in both Largs and Irvine.
