Should Largs have a weekly market?

It has come to my attention that there is a proposal for Largs Open Air Market in Gateside Street Car Park for which a leaflet has been sent out to shopkeepers requesting feedback.
As I am not a shopkeeper but a resident of Frazer Street there are several questions I would like to ask and for you to clarify.
1) Will residents of nearby streets be asked their opinion?
2) Where have those of us who have cars to park them on a Saturday and Sunday?
3) Why take away 28 parking spaces, 2 of which are marked as disabled, in a town that already struggles for parking spaces?
4) What about the forthcoming Viking Festival and Millport"s Country and Western Weekend when several cars are parked in Gateside Street car park for the full weekend?
5) Where have people to park their cars when something is on at the Masonic Hall?
6) Where have the tourists and visitors to park who have come to visit the market?
I am all for attracting visitors to our town and think an Open Air Market is a good idea, but not at the expense of town centre parking. There are several other places a market could be held such as: the grass area on the front where the Continental Market has been held in the past; New Street park, or even the parking area at the Brooksby Health Centre which is closed Friday evening till Monday morning, although there is a campaign to use this for more parking at weekends due to insufficient parking in Largs.
I look forward to your response. I have sent a copy of the proposal to some of my neighbours to hopefully gain others opinion.

Given the controversery over locating the market in Largs, could consideration not be given to Wemyss Bay railway station as a possible alternative? Once fully refurbished, the sweeping glass concourse could prove a spectacular locale and being all weather could be used throughout the winter. It could perhaps even host a winter fayre, complete with a Christmas market. There will be obvious obstacles with parking and permissions, but with enough local enthusiasm I'm confident these could be overcome.
