In our From Our Files feature, we look back to 50 years ago to the Brisbane Queen ceremony. Provost P.M White joined the Brisbane Queen of 1967, Margaret Clyde, during the crowning ceremony at Barrfields Park, preceded by the Herald, Lesley Duff. Maids of honour were Pamela Watt, Iona Nicolson, and Joyce Whiteford.
The other picture shows a fancy dress party at Barrfields in 1977 for the Brisbane Queen.
We turn the clock back to the early 1900s as Largs always drew in the crowds as this rare postcard scene at Mackerston shows, The Smart Sea Cadets were performing at the outdoor theatre near the seafrTher ont.
There are plenty of recognisable faces in Karen Aitchison's children's dance show in 1977, while 20 years later, the digital revolution came to Largs with the arrival of Cafe Norge offering hourly access to the worldwide web.
