Speeding issues in both Largs and Millport have been raised with the police by the corresponding community councils.
Largs council chairman Douglas Blair stated that Alexander Avenue has been a hotspot for speeding. He said: "The issue of Alexander and Eastern Avenue - you sometimes see construction staff getting away at 4pm, tearing down the road, but notwithstanding that, there are local speeders doing likewise. I know the police tend to check speeding on the main A78 road, but because these areas are residential, it is important that they are covered."
PC Les Stewart confirmed that police would look into the matter.
And during the recent Cumbrae Community Council meeting, concerns were raised regarding Ferry Road being used by speeding motorists.
It was agreed at the meeting that whereas there may be inappropriate speeds on this road it is not known if there is actually speeding.
Inspector Brian Skimming told the 'News': "Police on the island are aware of the issue, and have spoken to a number of drivers, and we will continue to monitor the situation."
