AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Isle of Cumbrae Tourist Association will be held in Fraser's Bar, Cardiff Street, on Wednesday 22 March. They urge all members to attend and to give their support and contribute their views.

The Chairman Ken Mapes report reads: "The 2016 summer season was one of change due to the introduction of RET (Road equivalent tariff). After two weekends of travel problems due to high demand in May, the less than perfect conditions through the holiday period meant that these scenes were not apparent again throughout the season.

"John Taberner and Suki McGregor once again worked tirelessly compiling the What's On leaflet.

"Our own September Weekend experienced the worst weather for years and a special mention must be given to Midnight Storm fireworks company for managing to get the display off in horrendous conditions. The Festival of Light was a very welcome addition. Emma Newton and Mary Currie did a great job during the illuminations weekend, and we must thank them for all their efforts. Thanks are due to the many people for their commitment to this very important weekend including the judges, collectors, bar stewards, can collectors, information collators, and of course the many participants of the illuminations without whom the event would flop. Mary now wants to step back after many years pulling the event together and special thanks must go to her.

"Thanks to Karen Brodie for running millport.org last year. Charlie Kelly is back this year. The new Magic of Millport brochure should be available close to the AGM."

Local development

Local communities and businesses are being encouraged to have their say by completing the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NACMIR

People will also have the opportunity to attend a consultation event on Tuesday 7 March from 1pm– 3pm at Millport library.
