Largs Viking Festival and Millport Country Music Festival should be kept apart to avoid potential safety issues, according to the chair of Largs Community Council.
The festivals have historically overlapped, but Largs council chairman Douglas Blair has suggested greater efforts should be made to separate them.
Mr Blair, a member of the Viking Festival committee, said: "I know it is individual organisations, but we really should be looking at trying to make sure we don't have everything on the same weekend.
"Can North Ayrshire Council not try and take a lead on the situation?"
However local councillor Alan Hill suggested that there are also issues affecting Cumbrae during events in Largs.
