The Field Studies Council in Millport has certainly been living up to its name, as you can see from this picture if you look very carefully.
You can see the common lizard Zootoca Vivipara, and he has been re-tweeted on the Millport FSC twitter page.
The viviparous lizard is widely distributed throughout Europe and Asia. Its range extends to the north of the Arctic Circle. It ranges from Ireland to Hokkaido and Sakhalin - and the Isle of Cumbrae!
It does not feature in most of the Mediterranean area, although it also frequents northern Spain, Northern Italy, Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria.
It is also absent from the area surrounding the Black Sea.
