Following a spectacular concert last Sunday when pianist Angela Brownridge wooed a capacity audience in the Cathedral of The Isles with her wonderful performances of Chopin and Debussy, there will be two concerts in the Cathedral this weekend. On Friday at 7.30 we'll have the first of a series of candlelit celebrity recitals, given this time by Elaine Gould (piano). She'll play two popular piano works : Beethoven 's Moonlight Sonata and Pictures at an

Exhibition by Mussorgsky. The concert will last about an hour, and members of the audience from the mainland will be able to catch the late ferries( and connecting buses) at 9.00 or 10.30 pm. As an extra treat, a buffet supper (price £7.50) will be available in the cloisters after the concert, for those who have booked in advance (01475-530353). The concert itself will of course have free admittance with a retiring collection in aid of the Cathedral's Musical Resources Fund.

The second concert next weekend will take place on Sunday at 3pm, and will take the form a song recital. It will be given by Jessica Conway (soprano) and Stuart Hope (piano), who will be deputising for the indisposed Sally and Jeremy Silver. The programme will include Schumann's deeply moving songcycle "Frauen-Liebe und -Leben" (Woman's Love and Life) and will add a new dimension to the range of music heard in Millport this summer.
