Cathedral
Following last weekend's  Millport's Country Festival, the twin series of summer concerts at the Cathedral will resume this weekend. This year's last Celebrity Candlelit Recital will be given by Elena Fischer-Dieskau (piano) on the evening of Friday 8th September at 7.30 pm. It will last about an hour, and members of the audience from the mainland will be able to return to Largs on the late ferry. The pianist, who is a member of the world-famous Fischer-Dieskau family, will play an interesting programme including music by the great Rachmaninov. Following the concert light refreshments will be available in the Cloisters.
On Sunday 10th September at 3 pm a very different concert will be presented by a superb female-voice chamber choir entitled 8 + 1 . Specialising in lighter music their programme will include songs by Leonard Cohen, in arrangements by their gifted musical director, John McIntosh . Entry to both concerts will be free, and a retiring collection will be taken for the Cathedral's Musical Resources Fund.
