Regarding last week's story about a Western Isles MSP calling on a levy on motorhomes visiting islands, I have a motorhome and we visit lots of islands and small towns. We always have to buy provisions from small shops and most times we also go to local restaurants. Also have to pay expensive price for fuel in these areas. So it's unfair to ask motorhomes for anything more.

Why on earth are we demonising this bread and butter?! Protests are from backward thinking NIMBYs. A simple thought process would make even the most challenged brain compute that motor homes do not come cheap. Therefore, these tourists have £££to spend!!! Please don't be fooled by the vocal minority...camper vans are most welcome in Cumbrae!

Difficult one - they are tourists after all - they have to do a shopping sometime - hopefully locally! I wonder if they frequent the pub? If it was my husband and me, we certainly would - what's a holiday without a visit to the local pub? Fish and chips also feature strongly on a Friday - start charging and you're on a sticky wicket!
