Cumbrae Community Council are wanting to keep an eye on the conditions for the new solar farm site which was passed by NAC last year.

To date there have been no further developments reported but Cumbrae Community Council have put in a request to the planning department of the local authority that they are given sight of the application to 'purify the conditions of planning once received'.

This will detail proposals, layouts, designs and materials. It was noted that there is a three year time limit from March 2017 for this application to be received.

North Ayrshire Council planners approved a controversial 5MW solar farm on the Isle of Cumbrae in November 2016.

Fears that the solar farm would ‘adversely affect the tourism trade’ were noted by NAC, but applicant ComSol Energy have stated that there is no evidence that renewable energy infrastructure has any impact on tourism.

Council planners responded that the proposal would have ‘limited impact’ on the landscape setting.
