A Presentation by Jim Miller, head of NAC Planning Department took place at a recent community council meeting. A presentation was delivered outlining the process by which planning applications were dealt with. Explanation was given as to how planning procedures are governed by law and it was noted at this point that the Local Development Plan 2 date for comments had been extended to Spring 2018. There was discussion surrounding the inclusion of Cumbrae Community Council in pre discussions for applications which may be of significant importance to Cumbrae. Disappointment was voiced by Cumbrae Community Council on hearing that no development on Cumbrae would ever be considered as major in planning terms and that therefore there would be no statutory obligation for developers to include Cumbrae Communty Council in these preliminary discussions. It was stated by Mr Miller that the 21 days notice given for comments would always be extended by common sense in such circumstances.
