Congratulations go to to Cumbrae Coastguard Rescue Team’s station officer Luigi Giorgetti who was presented with his 20 year long service medal this week.

In the scenic setting in Millport, coastguard colleagues from across the district including Area Commander Robbie Robertson and Senior Coastal Operations Officers Steve Muldoon and Peter Stewart, gathered to honour Luigi's long service.

Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team praised Luigi's efforts on their facebook page, and stated: "Being part of a coastguard rescue team is a massive commitment, especially when living in an island community and we all want to extend out thanks to Luigi for his continued commitment and enthusiasm to helping keep people safe at the coast.

"Well done Luigi and here’s to the many more years of Coastguard Service to come."

Luigi described it as a very special day, and thanked the Newton Bar for all their hospitality on the day.

Luigi owned the Ritz Cafe in Millport for many years, and has been involved in a number of community groups over the years on the island, and is also helping out in a new environmental venture on the island. Watch this space.
