During the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Facebook, we featured many royal party pictures and even included a gallery of when the Queen Mum when she visited the local area in 1979.
We are currently at the 2300 followers mark at www.facebook.com/largsandmillportnews which includes an assortment of breaking news, archive photos, and web links.
In the late 1970s, the Queen Mother visited Hunterston and Millport Marine Biological Station, bringing back plenty of memories. Andrea Atkinson said: "I have lovely memories of that day. My twin sons were 7 weeks old. She spotted them and came across to talk to me!"
Another picture showed the Queen Mum meeting none other than our Millport correspondent Mary Currie, with the Girl Guides, Robert Campbell of Millport said: "It was nice of the Queen Mum to turn up just to see me and my BB pals!"
