Row, row, row your boat ... It was a merry sail for a team of six rowers around Wee Cumbrae to raise funds for an island rowing club.
Last Wednesday, a team of six rowers set out to row around Wee Cumbrae in the hope of raising the money required to purchase the Cumbrae Skiff from her current private owner and keep it as a community asset.
It was a beautiful afternoon and a very successful one too, with the team completing the 7.5 mile course in under two hours and raising the commendable sum of £1500 - more than half the money required. Keeping the skiff on the island will allow for a community rowing club with everyone on Cumbrae able to use this beautiful st Ayles skiff which was build and painting on the island.
The organisers would like to thank Sportscotland for lending us buoyancy aids and the team of boats who accompanied them round, keeping everyone safe.
