On Friday 21 March three ladies from the Cumbrae Queen committee visited Cumbrae Primary School to choose this year’s Queen.

The ladies were invited to assembly and were delighted to hear the children sing a lovely song called “Why”.

Mrs Molloy, head teacher, then introduced the ladies and drew the name “out of the hat”. All the girls in primary six have this opportunity, and after the children all did a drum roll, the girl chosen was Marta Stevenson, to the cheers of her fellow pupils.

Marta will be crowned the 51st Cumbrae Queen on Sunday 8 June. She will be attended by her classmates as ladies-in-waiting.

All the boys in Primary three wishing to take part as page boys had their names put into the “hat” and the first name chosen was Ayuran Murdoch.

He will be the crown bearer. Second name chosen was Tyler McLean, who will carry the queen’s sceptre. It is hoped the sun will shine on Marta’s special day and everyone, including Mrs Milloy, is looking forward to the occasion.
