Islanders could be inconvenienced by a new bank regulation.

Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson has flagged up a notice that the Bank of Scotland is changing its account terms from August 4 in a way that may differentially affect islanders who bank with them. Obviously Millport could be affected.

The bank stated: “We are adding wording to condition 7.4 to say that cheque deposits made in our Scottish island branches and ATMs may take an extra day to clear. The branch will display a notice if this additional clearance time applies.” Mr Gibson commented: “I find it astonishing that the Bank of Scotland wishes to discriminate so blatantly against island residents who bank with them. For many years islanders have been able to bank just like anyone else. There can be no justification for such action and I will take up this matter at the highest level.” Full story and latest news in today's Largs & Millport Weekly News
