A special walking tour with a difference is taking place on the Isle of Cumbrae over the next two weekends.
The tours celebrate John Muir, (1838-1914), who was a conservation visionary of the 19th century - his legacy has helped shape the development of national parks and protected areas worldwide. Such a big character as John Muir can hardly be contained within one man, and so with the help of performance company Mischief La-Bas, two bearded ‘John Muirs’ will be on hand to lead young people (and a few old ones too!) on a wee rambling adventure of their own.
The 40 minute walking tours leave from Garrison House, and will be visiting the vicinity of the Garrison Grounds/Newton beach The walks take place on Saturday 5 July and Sunday 6 July at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event has been funded by North Ayrshire Legacy Fund, arranged by Cumbrae Community Council.
