The congregation of the Cathedral of The Isles, Millport are fully prepared for Holy Week, beginning with the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Bishop Kevin will be with the cathedral on Palm Sunday (29 March) and take the congregation through the distribution of the Palms and the eucharist. On Palm Sunday afternoon the Cathedral Choir will take us through the events of Holy Week through music and the poetry of George Mackay Brown.

On Monday 30, Tuesday 31 March and Wednesday 1 April, the choir will sing evensong at 3pm.

On Maunday Thursday the cathedral congregation will host a united service with members of the parish church where the Last Supper will be celebrated.

Throughout the week the choir will be accompanied by Jonathan Cohen on organ and directed by Alastair Chisholm.

The Paschal Vigil begins at 9pm on Saturday evening and involves lighting the new fire, processing with the Paschal candle and filling the Cathedral with the light of the Risen Christ.

On Easter Sunday morning the service at 11am will be led by the Reverend Canon Alec Boyd and the choir will sing a setting of the eucharist by Haydn.

At 3pm on Easter Sunday there will be a concert by violinist Feargus Hetherington and pianists Jonathan Cohen and Alastair Chisholm.

Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in all these events. By the Sunday evening, easter will have been well and truly celebrated.
