There was disruption on Sunday afternoon to the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry after a coach got stuck on the MV Loch Riddon ramp at Largs ferry slip.
It took around 45 minutes for the bus to be freed from the ramp, as it reversed back up the ferry slip, as Cal Mac staff punched the air to celebrate in relief.
A CalMac spokesman said: “Groundings like this are relatively rare occurrence, only two this year. However, triaxle coaches because of their size can present us with an issue on a small number of routes that use slipways to board and depart the vessel, Largs being one example.
“We are currently looking at range of options to address this. This might include getting agreement from tour operators to use only double axle coaches on certain routes, or exploring a potential engineering solution.”
