A group of cute kittens, which were born inside a wall behind a boiler unit, have proved to be a popular attraction on Millport.

The three week old feline friends were on display at ‘On Yer Bike’ shop, as manager Eilidh Beck showed the little kitties to passers-by, and revealed that they are being brought up by a dalmation!

Speaking to the ‘News’, Eilidh explained: “They were born in a wall behind the boiler. The mother, India, had managed to get behind the boiler. It was quite worrying, and I couldn’t sleep at all that night when the kittens were born, but we managed to use a torch and we could see that they were safe inside, and we then decided to knock down the wall.” But Eilidh’s efforts proved to be in vain, as India had managed to move her new family into a nearby cupboard!

She said: “India jumped through a wee gap in the boiler cupboard - the kittens have proved to be a star attraction, and I hope that they all go to good homes.” Not all the kittens have names, but two of them are called Mufasa and Simba after the characters from Disney’s ‘The Lion King’, and Tiger Lily. Another of the kittens is called ‘Socks’ because the black feline has white feet!

And in an even more remarkable twist to the happy ‘tail’, the new kittens are not only being looked after by India, but by Eilidh’s dalmatian Solo too.

Eilidh said: “While mum India feeds them, Solo does everything else, and toilets them, and looks after them.” There is remarkable video footage of Solo licking the kittens to clean them, and helping them in the very first stages of their development, taking on the tasks regularly associated with the mother.

Eilidh said: “It is really surprising, but Solo really looks after them, and does all the things expected of a mother!” Watch the video footage here: https://www.facebook.com/becksbabe666/videos/10153448345471208/
