The September Weekend illuminations in Millport were superb for one and all, but one of the eye-catching events was undoubtedly the island's famous Indian face monument singing 'Bohemian Rhapsody'... but was it a trick of the lights?

Judge for yourself 10 minutes and 30 seconds into the below video!

Local residents did their bit to provide a happy community vibe to the festivities, with Lorne Villa staging a memorable lights projection including a shark swimming in the sea, The Proclaimers singing '500 Miles', and much more - see video below.

The weather was excellent for all the activities that were provided by the The Isle of Cumbrae Tourist Association and ranged from a family quiz night competition and kids fancy dress competition on Saturday and a mini-Millport’s Got Talent on Sunday.

The projection show lit up Lorne Villa house to gasps of excitement from the crowd, and it was organised by Ian McGreish.

Using his projector, Ian is able to map out the house and install graphics via computer, to a showcase of music and stunning lights, and moving animation graphics.

Ian enlisted some help from his niece Laurie Corewyn who used an iPhone app to sync the singing lips to the Indian Face for the impressive result.

Ian laughed: “The whole project took me six months to plan and co-ordinate, but it took Laurie 10 minutes to make the Indian Face sing thanks to her iPhone app!” See Lorne Villa house video below..
