Fans of warmer weather were treated to record temperatures on Bank Holiday Monday.
Forecasters said the mercury hit 28.7C (83.6F) in Northolt, west London, on Monday afternoon, beating the previous record for the day of 23.6C in 1999.
The previous record for the hottest full weekend was set in 1995 when temperatures peaked on the Saturday at 28.6C (83.4F)
