Driver on drugs caused 4 car smash

Police arrested a 20 year old driver who caused a crash after he was found to be driving under the influence of an illegal drug.

Officers attended a road crash at Moorburn Road at 8am last Friday as a van collided with four stationary vehicles, and no-one was injured. The driver of the van from Newcastle was charged with dangerous driving under the influence of a controlled drug. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A disturbance in Nelson Street during Tuesday lunchtime on 27 May led to police arriving at the scene and offensive weapons were seized. Two boys aged 14 and 15 were charged with possession of the weapons and a breach of the peace. Reports have been sent to the Procurator"s Fiscal.
