Huge doubts hang over this year"s Largs Viking Festival after a bitter battle erupted among its organisers.
Over the past few months, local residents involved with the festival - operated by a limited company - have looked on the activities of its directors with increasing concern.
Now, after a meeting that saw several furious exchanges, it is feared that the week-long celebrations, starting at the end of August, could even be cancelled - mirroring the fate of the Brisbane Queen Festival.
Those present for their recent AGM at Moorburn House, the first in five years, were staggered to witness a huge row break out among key festival figures - and it has left sponsors of the annual event disgusted.
Read in this week's "News" why the patron of the Viking Festival walked out of the AGM, and comments from Chairman Elisabethe Marshall, and Secretary Graham Ross as the future of the event hangs in the balance.
