Italian interest ... this picture appeared on an Italian website to illustrate the story of a mysterious flashing light in Cumbrae.
Thanks to the reach of the worldwide web, our recent story about mysterious flashing lights in Cumbrae has appeared on websites all over the world.
The story about Largs mum June Pitcher and her son witnessing balls of light at speeds of over 200 miles per hour has aroused interest around the globe.
The Met Office pointed out that the annual Perseid meteor shower could have been the reason for the sighting but Mrs Pitcher remained unconvinced.
'UFO: mistero all"isola di Cumbrae' was the headline on the Centro Ricerche Ufo Liguria website from Italy, while a Polish UFO website also picked up on the unusual sighting across the water at Cumbrae.
Spanish website marcianitos verdes also translated the story for its international base of readers with the headline: 'Meteorovnis Sobre Cumbrae'.
A number of other websites also carried links to the story including the USA Today website as the world"s interest for stories concerning the paranormal mean the Isle of Cumbrae became a talking point from Largs to Los Angeles and Millport to Manhattan.
