Morland House in Skelmorlie

Part of a Skelmorlie mansion built by Lord Kelvin has been placed on the property market by Largs agents with an asking price of half a million pounds.

Morland House is an imposing B-listed baronial mansion house, originally built by eminent scientist William Thomson in 1862, before he was created Baron Kelvin of Largs.

Morland is the only property on Long Hill, which sits behind Shore Road, and enjoys stunning, uninterrupted views across the Clyde from the heart of Skelmorlie.

However, in 1984, the building was converted into five apartments, consisting of two garden flats and three conversions.

Now the owners of number 1 Morland House have chosen to downsize, placing their two-storey apartment on the market through Slater Hogg and Howison of Largs.
